Azerbaijan boosts gas exports 9% to 22 bcm in 11M 2023
BAKU. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan boosted gas exports 9% year-on-year to 22.05 billion cubic meters in January-November 2023, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov posted on social media.
According to Shahbazov, Azerbaijan exported 10.85 bcm of gas to Europe in the reporting period, or 49% of all shipments.
Azerbaijan exported 8.7 bcm of gas to Turkey, or 40% of all exports, and 2.5 bcm to Georgia, or 11% of all exports. Meantime, the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) to Turkey pumped 5.1 bcm of gas in the reporting period.
As previously reported, Azerbaijan boosted gas exports 18% to 22.3 bcm in 2022, with supplies to Europe totaling 11.4 bcm, an increase of 39%.
Azerbaijan plans to export 24.5 bcm of gas in 2023, with about 12-12.5 bcm going to Europe.
The current European buyers of Azerbaijani gas are Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary, with supplies to begin to Serbia in 2024. Moreover, a number of other European countries have expressed interest in purchasing Azerbaijani gas.
