Turkmenistan's GDP grows 6.3% Jan-Sept - govt

ASHGABAT. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Economic growth in Turkmenistan in January-September 2023 totaled 6.3%, the government newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reported, citing Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov.

"As a result of the successful implementation of program measures, a stable GDP growth rate was ensured over nine months, totaling 6.3%. Production volumes increased 6.3% compared to the same period in 2022," he said at a government meeting on Friday.

The volume of capital investments disbursed from all sources of financing increased 13.3%.

Retail turnover increased 9.6%. Wages at large and medium-sized enterprises in the country increased 9.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2022. Wages, pensions, state benefits and student scholarships were financed in a timely manner, Geldimyradov said.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that the revenue side of the state budget in January-September was fulfilled 111.7%, while spending came in at 97.8% of plan.

As reported, in 2022 the country's GDP grew by 6.2%, the government said. The country's socio-economic development program for 2023 forecasts economic growth of 6.5%.
