Sberbank completes pilot test of Chinese ATMs, installations to begin in 2024

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Based on the results of a pilot, Sberbank has chosen a supplier of Chinese ATMs and plans to install the first ones in 2024, First Deputy Chairman of the Bank's Board Alexander Vedyakhin told reporters.

"We have completed a pilot test of Chinese ATMs. One of the companies has been recognized as meeting our standards, and I think that in 2024 the first Chinese ATMs will begin to appear," Vedyakhin told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The bank does not plan to replace all its automatic tellers at once, he said. In 2024, planned replacements will cover 10%-15% of existing machines, and will include some Chinese ATMs.

"Today, Sberbank ATM's are the newest in the business. With an ATM service life of 9-10 years, ours are on average 3.5 years old," the first deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank said.

Vedyakhin announced the bank's intentions to conduct a pilot test of Chinese ATMs in September 2022. The pilot was scheduled to begin in Q1 2023, during which it was planned to evaluate the technical parameters of the devices' performance and their readiness to handle the loads typical to the Sber network.
