Ukrainian rescuers complete recovery efforts in Slovenia following flood - State Emergency Service

MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Rescue teams from the Ukrainian State Emergency Service have completed their mission to handle the aftermath of a flood in Slovenia and are returning home, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the service's statement.

"Over 17 days of work, State Emergency Service specialists have done colossal work in removing homes and structures destroyed by the flood. They cleared and expanded over 1,500 meters of a river and reinforced about 1,300 meters of the riverbank. They have moved over 53,000 cubic meters of soil, rocks, and silt and changed the riverbed at some point to protect homes from high water," the service said on its social account.

Ukrainian rescuers also transported 11 items of heavy engineering equipment belonging to other countries employed in the disaster area. In total, Ukrainian State Emergency Service drivers have travelled over 1,800 kilometers during the mission, it said.

The Ukrainian rescuers fulfilled all tasks given to them, it said.
