Hottest phase of Polish-Ukrainian debate on grain is gone - senior Polish presidential official

MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - The hottest phase of a dispute between Poland and Ukraine, particularly regarding an embargo on Ukrainian grain imports, is a thing of the past now, Ukrainian media have quoted Pawel Szrot, chief of the Polish presidential cabinet, as saying on Polish radio.

Szrot described the fact that Ukraine personally invited Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau at the Polish presidential cabinet, to negotiations at the recent meeting in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah as an indication that the relationship between the two countries is improving.

"I think this is not the only disagreement between us, and there'll definitely be more in the future. We need to approach this calmly and work to resolve them to make sure that relations between our countries are good and could be made even better," Szrot said.

The latest rift between Poland and Ukraine was prompted by an embargo on Ukrainian grain imports and Warsaw's warning that, even after the EU lifted the ban, it would keep it in place unilaterally, media said.
