Shmygal urges Poland to have expert dialogue on agricultural exports
MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal has addressed Warsaw amid statements on blocking Ukrainian grain exports across the Polish border.
"We're building new logistics on our western border. We have tripled cargo turnover via the Danube. We're opening new crossing points and expanding the capacity of the existing ones. At this extremely difficult time, unfortunately, we hear statements from our Polish allies that the EU borders will be closed to Ukrainian grain," Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a government meeting on Friday.
He thanked Poland for assistance it has provided to Ukraine during the crisis and invited it to have an expert dialogue.
"I'd like to address our Polish brothers. Your support is extraordinary. We will never forget this and will always be grateful for this. You're always first to support Ukraine. Therefore, we're calling on you not to fall for slogans and populism. Amid a possible global food crisis, I am urging the Poles to lend their helping shoulder to Ukraine," Shmygal said.
"We propose cooperation and an expert dialogue instead of slogans and opportunistic political expediency," Shmygal said.
