Oil production at several fields in Western Kazakhstan partially or fully stopped due to power outage
ASTANA. July 3 (Interfax) - Oil production was suspended at several fields in the Atyrau and Mangistau regions of Kazakhstan as a result of a power outage after an accident at the Mangistau NPP, the press service of KazMunayGas reported.
"In connection with the shutdown of the power unit at Mangistau, oil production at the fields of Ozenmunaygas, Mangistaumunaygas, Karazhanbasmunay, and Embamunaygas in the Mangistau and Atyrau regions has been partially or completely suspended," the report says.
"Work on the wells will resume as soon as electricity is supplied," the company said.
According to the website of Ozenmunaygas, the company includes 16 production structural divisions. The company is engaged in the development of the Uzen and Karamandybas deposits.
The site of Mangistaumunaygas states that the company provides about 8% of the republic's oil production. The main industrial sites are the Kalamkas and Zhetybai deposits, which account for almost 90% of all remaining recoverable reserves.
Karazhanbasmunay produces heavy oil at the Karazhanbas field (the northern part of the Buzachi peninsula in the Mangistau region). According to its website, the company accounts for 12% of oil production in the region and 2.5% in Kazakhstan.
