Coronavirus sickness rate in Russia down 7.3% over past week - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The coronavirus sickness rate in Russia per 100,000 people went down 7.3% over the past week from the previous week, according to data from the coronavirus response headquarters released on Monday.

The coronavirus sickness rate increased in 23 regions of Russia, according to the release.

"The coronavirus sickness rate per 100,000 people reached 32.2 over the past week, which is 7.3% less than in the previous week. The sickness rate increased in 23 regions of the Russian Federation, including in nine regions by more than the national average," the coronavirus response headquarters said.

The hospitalization rate per 100,000 people reached 5.2 last week, which is 11.8% less than in the previous week. The number of hospitalizations increased in 21 regions of Russia, and in 8 regions the number of hospitalizations increased by more than Russia's average.

According to the coronavirus response headquarters, 21,769,627 coronavirus infection cases, 393,376 deaths and 21,168,975 recoveries have been registered in Russia since the start of the pandemic.
