ISS crewmember Kikina planning to sew Snow Maiden costume for New Year's Eve
KOROLYOV, Moscow region. Dec 23 (Interfax) - Russian crewmembers of the International Space Station (ISS) will sew a Snow Maiden costume for New Year's Eve, cosmonaut Anna Kikina said.
"We would like to keep the festive mood. There is no Snow Maiden costume here, perhaps because the president does not visit us often and we have no costumes," Kikina said at a press conference held with the ISS crew shortly before the holiday season.
The cosmonauts can still think of something and make the costume themselves, she said.
She also said that the crew was planning to cook Olivier salad for the New Year dinner and had saved a pack of mayonnaise for that.
The cosmonauts spoke to journalists on Friday. They appeared on the display of the Mission Control Center in the ISS station decorated for New Year celebrations: there are decorations on the wall, artificial snowflakes and Christmas trees, and a Happy New Year message.
