Belarus, Russia to jointly process Russian wool

MINSK. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Bellegprom and the light industry department of Russia's Industry and Trade Ministry have signed a joint program to process Russian wool, the Belarusian company's chairman, Tatyana Lugina said, state newspaper SB. Belarus Segodnya reported.

"Right now wool is being sold without grading, a significant amount goes to China. But the paradox is that our businesses that process wool and Russian ones often buy wool top in China that is made from Russian wool, although it would be more logical and lucrative to sort it locally," Lugina said.

"The new approach will make it possible to produce high quality wool on par with the best world analogs. Then we will be able to make knitwear that differs little in quality from expensive analogs from the European Union," Lugina said.
