Manturov to supervise Rosatom's activities in state defense order, rocket-space sector, nuclear oversight in govt

MOSCOW. July 18 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has assigned new responsibilities to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, in particular, he will supervise Rosatom's activities in the area of the state defense order, the rocket and space industry and nuclear oversight.

"Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has approved changes to the distribution of responsibilities between his deputies. New powers, in particular, are assigned to Denis Manturov, who has assumed the position of deputy prime minister and minister of industry and trade," the government's press service said.

Manturov will supervise industrial development in the government, in particular, the implementation of sectoral programs in shipbuilding, aviation, radio electronics, the rocket and space sector, the defense industry, and the nuclear industry.

"Denis Manturov will also be in charge of state policy in the field of civil defense, protection of the population and territories from emergencies, and the development of the Russian state border," the press service said in a statement.

As deputy prime minister and minister of industry and trade, he will supervise the following agencies: the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Oversight (with regard to its involvement in the state defense order, the development programs of the defense industry and the rocket and space industry, nuclear oversight in the specified activities); the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology; and the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (with regard to the involvement of the agency in the state defense order, the development programs of the defense industry and the rocket and space industry, in the area of nuclear oversight in the specified activities).

Additionally, Manturov is tasked with coordinating the Rosatom state corporation's activities regarding the corporation's engagement in the state defense order, the development programs for the defense industry and the rocket and space industry, as well as in the field of nuclear supervision in the specified area of activity; he is also coordinating the Roscosmos state corporation's activities.

"Along with his powers specific for various industries, Denis Manturov has been assigned the responsibility of supervising the social and economic development of the industrially oriented Urals Federal District," the press service said.
