Runet monthly audience tops 100 mln in 2021 - Deputy PM Chernyshenko
MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - The monthly audience of the Internet's Russian segment, also known as Runet, topped 100 million in 2021, the press service of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko told Interfax on Thursday.
"The Russian-speaking Internet space has been growing year upon year. In 2021, the Runet monthly audience exceeded 100 million people, which is over 80% of the population," the press service quoted Chernyshenko as saying.
About 90% of users browse the Internet every day, while the share nears 95% among Russians aged from 12 to 24, he said.
The audience of domestic Internet platforms grew in March, Chernyshenko said. The number of RuTube views grew 64%, while the overall audience of the VK social network (both Russian and foreign users) grew to 100 million, he said.
In addition, over 5 million domain names have been registered in the RU zone, in addition to over 670,000 domain names registered in the RF zone, Chernyshenko said.
