Fifth package of EU sanctions to ban import of Russian coal, operations with 4 Russian banks, including VTB - European Commission president

BRUSSELS. April 5 (Interfax) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Tuesday a proposed fifth package of EU sanctions against Russia.

"We will impose an import ban on coal from Russia worth 4 billion euros per year. This will cut another important revenue source for Russia. Second, a full transaction ban on four key Russian banks, among them VTB, the second largest Russian bank," she said on Twitter.

In addition, she announced a pending ban on Russian ship calls on EU ports and on access of Russian and Belarusian motor transport companies to EU countries.

There will be "further export bans, worth 10 billion euros, in crucial areas: advanced semiconductors, machinery and transport equipment," she said.
