Turnout at early voting at Belarusian constitutional referendum tops 40% - CEC
MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The turnout at the early voting as part of the Belarusian constitutional referendum stands at 42,93%, the Belarusian Central Elections Commission (CEC) said.
"A total of 42,93% of eligible voters cast their ballots at the nationwide referendum during early voting," the CEC said.
The lowest turnout was registered in Minsk (34,75%), while the highest turnout in Gomel (49,02%).
The early voting took place on February 22-26. February 27 is the main voting day.
Over 50% of eligible voters must take part in the referendum for it to be valid. A decision is adopted if over 50% of voters support it. The decision made at the referendum takes effect within 10 days after its official publication.
