Russia to retaliate to U.S., EU sanctions in way that situation requires - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Russia will retaliate to the Western sanctions in a way that the situation will require, securing its own interests, Russian Foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"We will react to it the same way we reacted before: we will give tit-for-tat, symmetrical and asymmetrical responses. As the situation will require. We will proceed from our own interests, which are now to prevent the development of the worst-case scenario and to end the war that has lasted for many years," she said on Rossiya 24 television.
