Russia sees record daily growth in Covid-19 cases to over 7,000 - HQ

MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - Russia has detected over 7,000 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total rate to nearly 106,500, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 7,099 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,829 active asymptomatic cases (39.9%)," the statement said.

Hence, the absolute daily growth in Covid-19 cases for the first time surpassed 7,000 and set the all-time high record in Russia. By now, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases stands at 106,498 (+7.1%) in 85 regions of Russia, it said.

Moscow diagnosed 3,093 new coronavirus cases over the past day, bringing the total number to 53,739, the statement said.

More than 1,000 coronavirus patients have died in Russia by now. According to the headquarters, 101 deaths were confirmed over the day, including 65 in Moscow, and the death toll reached 1,073. Russia has recorded over a hundred coronavirus deaths for the second day in a row.

Meanwhile, 1,333 coronavirus patients were discharged upon recovery over the past day, including 525 in Moscow. As many as 11,619 coronavirus recoveries have been recorded in Russia by now.
