Domestic flights in Russia plummet 90% - tutu.ru

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - Airlines in Russia are conducting 377 domestic flights on Tuesday against the 3,168 performed daily prior to the introduction of restrictions due to the coronavirus, according to data from the tutu.ru service.

The number of daily flights within Russia has thus fallen by roughly 90%.

The data was collected through analysis of airborne responders and statuses of airports, tutu.ru said. The statistics are updated once every two hours.

The Russian government earlier imposed complete restrictions on international flights, allowing only charter flights for returning Russian citizens. It did not introduce restrictions on flights between regions within the country, but airlines themselves began canceling flights due to the fall in passengers' demand in conditions of quarantine.

According to the International Association of Airports, the biggest Russian airports saw a 92% fall in traffic year-on-year on Monday.
