Nationwide vote on constitutional amendments postponed - Putin

NOVO-OGARYOVO. March 25 (Interfax) - The nationwide voting on the amendments to the Russian Constitution has been postponed from April 22 to a later date, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

Putin said in his televised address to Russian citizens on the situation surrounding coronavirus that "the question about organizing the all-Russian voting on the constitutional amendments tentatively scheduled for April 22 also rises."

"You know how serious I am about it and, of course, I will ask you to come and express your opinion on this issue, a principled, key one for our country and our society. However, as it has been said before, health, lives, and safety of people are an absolute priority for us. This is why I believe that the vote should be postponed to a later date," he said in his televised address to Russians.
