Russia working on possibility of joint work with U.S. partners in Arctic - Putin
MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Russia is working on the possibility of joint work with U.S. partners in the Arctic, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
"A crucial issue for the development of the gas industry is which technologies to build gas production projects, transport infrastructure and specialist training around. Here, technological cooperation among gas-exporting countries and establishing close partnerships to the benefit of each country are especially needed. Russia is systematically strengthening its technological sovereignty, including in the gas industry, and we are mastering production from so-called deep horizons. We have made a big step in creating our own LNG technologies, which are already being used in the harsh conditions of the Arctic," he said.
Russia is open to cooperation and to the exchange of technological developments in the gas sector, Putin said. "I propose discussing approaches to such work and establishing it within our forum. In the Arctic, which I mentioned, we actively work with many countries. Countries around the world are interested in joint work. Quite recently, European partners worked together with us at our fields, and Chinese partners worked there as well. Now we are working on the possibility of joint work with U.S. partners," Putin said.
"A successful example of such cooperation can be our relations with partners in nuclear energy, where Russia is a recognized world leader and offers foreign colleagues the full range of technologies - from the construction of nuclear power plants and the development of the production base to the training of workers, engineers, managers and scientific personnel," he said.
