Russian watchdog tightens control over fish products from one Chinese supplier
MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor placed imports of fish products from China's Fujian Ming Xing Frozen Food Co., Ltd. under enhanced laboratory control on October 12 due to the discovery of golden staph in the company's frozen mackerel, the regulator reported.
Rosselkhoznadzor imposes enhanced lab control upon the first discovery of violations. If the violations are repeated, restrictions are imposed on imports of the product.
Mackerel is one of China's main fish exports to Russia, accounting for 11,000 tonnes of the 43,000 tonnes of fish products Russia imported from the country in the first five months of 2026, according to the Fish Union.
