Russia can fully cover Egypt's demand for grain - deputy FM
MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - Russia can fully cover all of Egypt's demand for grain, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko said.
"We're continuing to supply grain to our Egyptian friends. Due to the difficult situation in the Black Sea, where most of the vessel traffic has come to a halt, shipments are also being routed via the Baltic Sea. And we're prepared to fully cover all of Egypt's demand for grain," Borisenko said in an interview with RTVI.
"Russia is truly the number one grain supplier for Egypt," he said.
"It's safe to say that this situation has developed historically, over the course of many decades. For instance, in 2024, Russia supplied Egypt with nearly 11 million tonnes out of the approximately 13 million tonnes of grain it purchased on the international market that year," he said.
