Moscow Exchange has new record trading volume over weekend of October 10-11

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Trading on the Moscow Exchange reached a new record volume of 92.8 billion rubles at the weekend of October 10-11, the exchange said in a statement.

This is more than 3.7 times above the average trading volume per session at a weekend since the beginning of 2026. The previous record was 68.8 billion rubles during the weekend of February 28-March 1, when the U.S. and Israel began their attacks on Iran.

The volume of trading in shares and mutual funds on October 10-11 totaled 87.9 billion rubles and bonds 4.9 billion rubles. The number of private investors making deals increased 37.5% compared with the average for a weekend day since the beginning of 2026, reaching 165,000.

Trading volume on the futures market almost tripled compared with the average, reaching 143 billion rubles.

"Once again, weekend trading showed itself to be in high demand amid rapidly changing news events: on the stock market, this means the possibility of swiftly rebalancing securities portfolios; on the futures market, it means the possibility of hedging and having a share in the price fluctuations of various assets, including global ones," the exchange said.

Weekend trading on the Moscow Exchange is held between 9:50 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Moscow time.
