Necessary to seek ways for expanding cooperation between Russia, N. Korea in energy, investments, agriculture - Russian ambassador

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - It is necessary to seek ways for expanding cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang in energy, investments and agriculture, Russian Ambassador to North Korea Andrei Podyolyshev said on Saturday.

"It is necessary to seek ways for expanding cooperation in the spheres of commerce and economy, investments, transport and logistics, energy, in natural resources, agriculture, healthcare, science, education, culture, sports, and tourism. Interregional ties and direct contacts between enterprises, agencies and organizations of our countries is a separate track," Podyolyshev said in his first interview as the ambassador in Pyongyang conducted with Interfax.

"The bilateral political dialogue, which reached a high level, facilitated a considerable increase in the intensity of interaction on the commercial and economic track as well and a wide range of objectives of expanding it," he said.

At the same time, "the package of strict resolutions of the United Nations Security Council in relation to the DPRK is somewhat limiting to the tracks and range of the development of such cooperation, but does not completely rule out such opportunities," he said.
