Trump says had successful talk with Putin, leaders discussed diesel supply from Russia

WASHINGTON. Oct 9 (Interfax) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he had had a successful talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which addressed the supply of diesel fuel from Russia to the U.S. and global markets.

"I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel to the American and global marketplace, another 500,000 tonnes during the month of November, and 1,000,000 tonnes immediately thereafter," he said on Truth Social.

Russia will export another three million tonnes of diesel fuel later over a short period of time, Trump said.

In early October, Putin said Russia had sufficient resources of diesel fuel, but the country could not supply it to the global market due to the sanctions.

"We have enough of diesel. But it cannot reach the global markets because of current bans, sanctions on our oil and petroleum products," he said while speaking at a plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.
