Georgian PM hopes for restoration of strategic partnership with U.S.
TBILISI. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The relations between Georgia and the United States have considerably improved, and Tbilisi hopes for restoration of strategic partnership with Washington, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
"As for strategic partnership with the U.S., which was suspended under the previous U.S. administration, we remain optimistic and hope for its restoration," Kobakhidze told reporters.
Kobakhidze said he was able to discuss restoration of strategic partnership in a brief talk with U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a recent visit to the United Nations General Assembly.
"I can only give general information on these meetings as these meetings were not public," Kobakhidze said.
The previous U.S. administration announced suspension of strategic relations with Georgia in 2024.
