Kyrgyzstan launches first satellite into orbit
BISHKEK. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov participated in the launch ceremony of the country's first national satellite during a working visit to the United States, the Kyrgyz leader's press service reported.
The launch took place at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, utilizing a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle.
The satellite was placed into orbit as part of a group of spacecraft launched by a single rocket. Its launch was the result of a joint effort between Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates. Satellite operations will be managed from a control center located in Bishkek.
The data obtained will enable the monitoring of agricultural lands, glaciers, water bodies, forests, and pastures, as well as the tracking of changes in natural ecosystems. Satellite data will be used to detect illegal subsoil resource extraction, unauthorized waste dumps, and other sources of pollution, as well as to optimize logistics routes.
