Tokayev proposes establishing Kazakh-German investment, financial platform
ASTANA. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed establishing a Kazakh-German investment and financial platform, the Kazakh presidential press service said in a statement.
"The Platform would combine German and European capital with Kazakh co-financing, guarantees and risk-sharing instruments, with Baiterek Holding structuring projects on our side," the press service quoted Tokayev as saying at a meeting with representatives of German business associations and financial institutions in Berlin.
He also called for prioritizing cooperation in critical raw materials.
Tokayev said that Kazakhstan was interested in cooperating with Germany's Raw Materials Fund and in advancing projects that meet the criteria for Germany's Untied Loan Guarantees (UFK) and help strengthen the reliability of raw material supplies for German industry.
Furthermore, he urged German companies to leverage their potential in areas such as data processing center technologies, energy efficiency, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
Tokayev said that Kazakhstan-Germany cooperation is an integral part of Kazakhstan's engagement with the European Union.
"We have come a long way together, but the potential of our economic partnership is far from exhausted. Kazakhstan is ready to take it to a qualitatively new level," he said.
