Production of Russian microelectronics may grow to 800 bln rubles in 2030 - industry and trade minister

SOCHI. Sept 28 (Interfax) - Production of Russian microelectronics (chips and the electronic component base) may amount to 800 billion rubles in 2030, Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov told journalists on the sidelines of the Microelectronics forum.

"If we talk about microelectronics - that is, about the chips and components themselves - the share of Russian products is now about 26%," Alikhanov said. "According to analysts' calculations, it may grow to 44%-48% by 2030, and in monetary terms to almost 800 billion rubles," he said.

In an optimistic scenario, this figure will exceed one trillion rubles, he said.

Achieving these figures will be ensured, in particular, through the construction of new factories and the creation of the country's own technological equipment, he said.

It is planned that a new strategy for developing microelectronics will be worked out, Alikhanov said. It will be aimed in the first instance at helping enterprises move from development to serial output and guaranteed sales. A mechanism of forward contracts with liability for their non-fulfillment should be one of the support measures for enterprises in the microelectronics industry, he said.
