Kazakhstan, China sign investment agreements worth $8.2 bln

ASTANA. Sept 25 (Interfax) - Astana and Beijing signed 50 commercial agreements totaling $8.2 billion at the Kazakhstan-China investment forum in Almaty, the Kazakh president's press service said.

This includes an agreement signed by the government of eastern Kazakhstan's Abai region and a consortium of Xinjiang Sanbao Industrial Group Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Wanjiang Investment Co., Ltd. to build an electrolytic aluminum plant and an accompanying wind power plant in the Abai region, as well as a particleboard plant in Semey.

JSC Samruk-Energy, China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. and SANY Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. also signed an agremenet on joint project development.

Kazakh Invest and Silk Road Finance Corporation signed an agreement outlining the key terms for establishing a specialized investment fund at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), focused on financing promising projects in Kazakhstan.

The Akmola regional government and SUNGROW Renewable Development Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement relating to wind power plants with a combined capacity of 450 MW in the Akmola region.

The East Kazakhstan regional government and East Motors Corporation LLP signed an agreement of intent to build a high-tech automotive plant producing passenger cars and specialized vehicles.

Other documents included a cooperation agreement between the Turkistan regional government and Turan Chemical Company LLP on the construction of a urea fertilizer plant.

The Almaty city administration and Guotai Junan Securities Limited of Hong Kong signed a memorandum of understanding on organizing and supporting dim sum bond issues on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX).

The Almaty municipal governor, Everest Development and SunnyWorld Group signed an agreement to build a multifunctional complex with an international hotel and business center.

DBK and the Astana branch of China Construction Bank Corporation signed an agreement approving preliminary funding terms for Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK) programs, including funding for investment projects in priority economic sectors.
