Vucic discusses energy security with Lavrov, says hopes for prompt conclusion of new gas agreement

ROME. Sept 24 (Interfax) - Serbian President Alexander Vucic said he has discussed with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov the gas agreement and energy security.

"Vucic said he had expressed hopes in a talk [with Lavrov] on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly that a new gas agreement will be signed with Russia before the end of September," RTRS (Radio Television of Republika Srpska) reported on Thursday.

The conversation also addressed bilateral relations, expansion of economic cooperation, the geopolitical situation in the world, and the role of the UN in the difficult situation in the world, Vucic said.

Vucic again stated the principled stance of Serbia, which remains committed to preserving peace and stability and respect for international law as the only way to overcome the existing challenges.
