Belarus, China to use e-permits for mutual road freight transport

MINSK. Sept 24 (Interfax) - The transport ministers of Belarus, Aleksei Lyakhnovich, and China, Liu Wei, signed a memorandum on the implementation of electronic permits for international road freight transport during the Global Sustainable Transport Forum in Beijing, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Transport reported.

"Cooperation between Belarus and China in the road transport sector has reached a new level. The implementation of an electronic permit system is set to become a key driver for improving logistics efficiency," Lyakhnovich said during the signing ceremony, as quoted by the press service.

The shift to a digital format will resolve the issue of physical shortages of paper permit forms-a problem that typically intensifies at the end of the year-minimize associated logistics costs, drastically reduce document processing times, and increase vehicle turnover, thereby directly lowering the final cost of goods delivery.
