Russia's grain, oilseed harvest exceeding last year's, important to avoid overstocking - deputy PM

MOSCOW. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Russia's grain and oilseed harvest is currently exceeding that of last year and it is important to avoid overstocking in these conditions, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said.

"The clearing of the new harvest is gradually moving into its conclusion phase. Harvests are currently higher than those of last year, both for grain and for oilseed. In connection with this, it is important to prevent overstocking and to ensure the rhythmic supply of produce both to the domestic market and for export. Processes must be organized effectively using all logistics possibilities," Patrushev was quoted as saying by his press service at a meeting on the development of Russian agricultural exports.

Patrushev emphasized the importance of efficiently utilizing transport infrastructure and ensuring well-organized processes at every stage of cargo shipment. The Transport Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry have been instructed to manage operations effectively in this area and maintain constant oversight.

Patrushev noted that the Russian government is implementing various support measures to ensure the uninterrupted shipment of produce. Notably, approximately 10 billion rubles have been allocated to subsidize railway transport for agricultural products from regions that traditionally yield high harvests.

In addition, necessary measures regarding customs and tariff regulations have been developed. Specifically, the payment of export duties on grain has been suspended until the end of the year, and the maximum duty rates for vegetable oil and meal have been capped at the levels set for August 2026.
