Azerbaijan's geography enables Central Asian countries, Turkey to make maximum profits from implementation of projects in spheres of transport, energy - Azerbaijani president

BAKU. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The geographical situation of Azerbaijan allows for implementation of transport and energy security projects with maximal profits for the Central Asian countries and Turkey, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"As for Azerbaijan, as we are ourselves suppliers of energy resources to the world economy, we also transit energy resources from the Central Asian countries through the Caspian Sea further to the international markets. And thus the geographical situation of Azerbaijan, which is situated at the junction of Europe and Asia and has active interaction both with the Central Asian countries included in the Organization of Turkic States and with Turkey, envisages, of course, the role that we play to implement transport and energy security projects with maximal profits to all our countries," Aliyev said while hosting top security officials of the countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku on Thursday.

The OTS countries are rich in natural resources, and that is also a big advantage, he said. "And these natural resources help strengthen our states [...] Especially in the current situation on the perimeter of our borders, issues associated with energy security gain special significance," he said.

The OTS countries are demonstrating confident economic growth, especially now that reverse processes are taking place in different parts of the world: stagnation, economic decline and other economic and social problems - today they are generally a reality of today's world. "But in the OTS, we see positive dynamics: industrial production growth, economic indicators, and stable financial systems. All these things are a big achievement of our countries and the policies that are pursued in our countries on a state level," he said.
