Agricultural production in Belarus up 6.5% in Jan-Aug 2026

MINSK. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Agricultural production in Belarus at all categories of farms increased 6.5% year-on-year in comparable prices in January-August 2026 and amounted to 25.5 billion Belarusian rubles, the country's National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.

Agricultural organizations produced output worth 22.7 billion Belarusian rubles during this period, up 5.9% from a year earlier.

Belarus is increasing the growth rate of agricultural production. The increase was 4.7% in January-June and 2.6% in Q1.

At farms of all categories, 1.24 million tonnes of livestock and poultry in live weight were produced in January-August, up 5.3%, along with 6.23 million tonnes of milk (+2.8%) and 2.3 billion eggs (+1.1%).

Agricultural organizations account for 98% of production of livestock and poultry, and 90% of milk and eggs.

As of September 1, agricultural organizations had 3.8 million head of cattle, including 1.3 million head of cows. The number of pigs totaled 2.1 million head, and the amount of poultry was 51.3 million head.

As of that date, grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn) at agricultural organizations were harvested from 98.8% of the areas subject to harvesting, compared to 95.1% as of September 1, 2025. In total, 7.5 million tonnes of grain were threshed in initially recorded weight (7.8 million tonnes as of September 1, 2025) with an average yield of 37.8 centners per hectare (40.8 c/ha).

Rapeseed was harvested from 94.5% of the areas (92.4% a year earlier), with 1.4 million tonnes of rapeseed threshed in initially recorded weight, up 1.5-fold compared to September 1, 2025. The average yield was 31.7 c/ha (25 c/ha).

As of September 1, agricultural organizations had stored 7.8 million tonnes of feed (+0.4%), of which feed from grasses amounted to 4.2 million tonnes (+4.8%).

Agricultural production in Belarus grew 0.2% in 2025 after increasing 3.4% in 2024. Growth stood at 1% in 2023 and 3.6% in 2022.

The official exchange rate on September 15 is 3.03 Belarusian rubles/$1.
