Money transfers by individuals from abroad to Azerbaijan up 1.4-fold in H1 2026, up 1.7-fold from Russia
BAKU. Sept 15 (Interfax) - The amount of money transfers by individuals from foreign countries to Azerbaijan amounted to $748.5 million in H1 2026, exceeding the figure for the same period last year by 40.2%, according to materials from the the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
The largest amount transfers since the beginning of this year were made from Russia, at 47.7% of the total (39.9% a year earlier). At the same time, their total sum increased 67.4% to $356.6 million.
The top five main countries from which transfers by individuals were made in January-June 2026 also included Turkey at $108.3 million (up 23.3%), the United States at $46.5 million (down 10.7%), Ireland at $43 million (up 7.3-fold) and Georgia at $25.5 million (up 40.9%).
According to the CBA, money transfers by individuals from Azerbaijan abroad decreased 12.7% to $207.9 million in the reporting period. The largest amount of transfers went to Turkey at 28.1% (28.6% a year earlier), with their total sum amounting to $58.5 million (-14%).
The leaders by sum of transfers by individuals abroad also included the USA at $29.9 million (-25.2%), Russia at $19.9 million (-9.9%), Georgia at $11.7 million (-15.3%) and the UK at $11.6 million (-5.7%).
As reported earlier, money transfers by individuals to Azerbaijan grew 8.7% in 2025 relative to the previous year, to $1.18 billion.
