AzerGold, Kyrgyzaltyn ready to develop mining projects in Kyrgyzstan through joint ventures

BAKU. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan's state-owned miner, CJSC AzerGold is interested in establishing joint ventures with OJSC Kyrgyzaltyn to develop promising deposits in Kyrgyzstan, AzerGold said in a statement following a meeting between the heads of AzerGold and Kyrgyzaltyn, Zakir Ibrahimov and Kubat Abdraimov, in Bishkek.

"Issues arising from the memorandum of cooperation and collaboration between AzerGold and Kyrgyzaltyn, signed on July 31, 2026, in Cholpon-Ata, were discussed. The parties also discussed the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the mining sector and the possibility of implementing potential joint projects," the press release said.

Expansion beyond Azerbaijan is one of AzerGold's strategic priorities. The company is looking at joint mining and exploration projects in Central Asian countries. Ibrahimov said the company was willing to collaborate in the exploration and development of gold and other mineral deposits, as well as the use of advanced geological exploration methods.

"The Kyrgyzaltyn head said the Azerbaijani side's proposal for cooperation and mutual support was welcome. New opportunities for cooperation may emerge as a result of the discussions, and existing promising projects will be jointly reviewed by both parties," the press service said.

AzerGold was established by a presidential decree dated February 11, 2015. It prospects, explores, develops and operates gold and iron ore deposits.

Kyrgyzaltyn is Kyrgyzstan's biggest gold miner. The State Property Management Fund holds all of its shares.
