Kazakhstan's int'l reserves jump 11.4% to $70.6 bln in Aug - National Bank

ASTANA. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's gross international reserves rose 11.4% in August to $70.57 billion, according to preliminary data from the National Bank.

Reserves stood at $63.32 billion at the end of July and $65.41 billion at the end of 2025. The August increase of $7.25 billion brought year-to-date growth to 7.9%, or $5.16 billion.

Within the reserves, freely convertible currency assets fell 2.49% in August to $14.77 billion and are down 18.7% since the start of the year. They stood at $15.15 billion at end-July and $18.18 billion at end-2025.

The value of monetary gold surged 15.8% in August to $55.79 billion from $48.17 billion a month earlier.

The National Bank's net international reserves rose 11.8% in August to $68.56 billion from $61.33 billion in July.

Assets of the National Fund of Kazakhstan grew 3.2% in August to $68.23 billion from $66.12 billion at end-July.

Total international reserves combined with National Fund assets stood at $138.8 billion at end-August, up $9.36 billion, or 7.2%, over the month.
