Russian-Chinese relations rapidly developing in all areas - Putin

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Russian-Chinese trade may reach a new all-time high in 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Bilateral trade has confidently exceeded the mark of $200 billion in the past three years. It stood at nearly $240 billion in 2025, forming a firm material groundwork for bilateral interaction. We forecast a new record this year," Putin said at a meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.

Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation are developing rapidly in all areas, and the high frequency of contacts confirms the unprecedented nature of bilateral ties, Putin said.

Ding, for his part, said that bilateral relations are strengthening, and China is ready to work with Russian counterparts to implement the agreements reached by the presidents, deepen integration in the interests of the two countries, and bolster the material basis of bilateral ties.

"As co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission on investment and energy cooperation, I stand ready to work with Russian counterparts to jointly implement the agreements reached by the heads of state," he said.

The Eastern Economic Forum is an important platform for cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, Ding said, reaffirming China's readiness to continue to participate in the Far East's development in order to ensure that the results of bilateral interaction serve the two countries' interests to a greater extent.
