Putin highlights implementation of major Russian-Turkish projects, including Akkuyu NPP

BISHKEK. Sept 1 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey are continuing to implement major projects together, one of them is the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Russian President Vladimir Putin said during talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Major joint projects are continuing. One of them is well-known to everyone, it is the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant," Putin said.

On Monday, the Russian leader arrived in Kyrgyzstan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Bishkek. On Tuesday, Putin held talks with Erdogan.

Putin said that Russia's Rosatom will launch Akkuyu NPP Unit 1 in 2026 as it was planned. "You tasked our Rosatom company to launch the Unit 1 this year," Putin said. "It will be so, the company is on schedule," he said.
