Kyrgyzstan govt to subsidize imports of fuels and lubricants until end of year

BISHKEK. Aug 26 (Interfax) - The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan will continue subsidizing imports of fuels and lubricants until December 31, 2026, in accordance with a resolution signed by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev.

According to the resolution, the subsidies will apply to AI-92 gasoline, diesel fuel and liquefied gas. The fixed prices used in the calculations will be at $960/tonne for AI-92, $1,050/tonne for diesel fuel and $650/tonne for autogas.

These subsidies will be available to entrepreneurs who have signed a price-fixing agreement.

The previous government resolution stipulated that the funding would be available until September 1.

As of May 25, 2026, Kyrgyzstan also changed the mechanism for compensating oil traders for the difference between the actual cost of fuel and the fixed retail price. The country's anti-monopoly service has reported that the Cabinet of Ministers paid out around 1 billion som, the equivalent of $11.4 million, as subsidies to oil traders in order to keep retail prices for gasoline, diesel fuel and autogas on the same level.
