Russian wheat harvest up 9 mln tonnes to 75 mln so far - minister
MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Russia has harvested 75 million tonnes of grain so fa this season.
"As for wheat, we have harvested 75 million tonnes. Yield is 8% higher, and the total is 9 million tonnes more than last year. We are entirely self-sufficient," Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut told Interfax on the sidelines of the United Russia party congress on Saturday.
Regarding the total grain harvest, the minister stated that the data was announced the day before.
The total harvest is currently approaching 100 million tonnes, it was reported.
The Russian Agriculture Ministry has not yet given a forecast for grain production this year.
The State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said that the grain harvest totaled 141.2 million tonnes in 2025, excluding the new regions, including 91.1 million tonnes of wheat. The AgMin estimates the grain harvest including the new regions at 147 million tonnes in 2025.
