Myanmar embassy opens in Minsk

MINSK. Aug 21 (Interfax) - The Myanmar embassy in Belarus has opened in Minsk, the BelTA state news agency reported on Friday.

"We are symbolically opening up a new page in the history of our diplomatic relations. In a short, historically speaking, period, our countries have achieved a lot," Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov was quoted by the news agency as saying at the opening ceremony.

Talks were held in Minsk between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing on Friday. Following these talks, a package of documents was signed in trade, economic, scientific, technological, legal, and other areas. These documents include an agreement between Belarus and Myanmar on mutual legal assistance in civil and economic matters, an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, and others.
