Rosatom in talks with 15 countries on building NPP units - CEO

MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax) - Russia's Rosatom is in talks with 15 countries on building nuclear power plant units, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said at a meeting on the development of the nuclear energy sector.

"We are working on further expansion of our presence abroad. We have signed agreements for building another 17 reactor units in six countries, and the conclusion of a respective intergovernmental agreement with Vietnam is the latest example. We are in talks with another 15 countries," Likhachev said.

Survey is almost complete on the site of construction of two VVER-1200 units in Kazakhstan, he said.

Currently, Rosatom is building 28 units of various capacity in nine countries. Likhachev told the media in spring that, given the book of orders nearing $200 billion, the company was "quite satisfied with the planned, systematic forecast of our work." Before the conclusion of the new agreement with Vietnam, the book of orders stood at $206-208 billion.

Revenue generated by Rosatom abroad reached $17.2 billion last year.
