Half of business processes in Russian construction, housing, communal services to be based on AI by 2030 - Construction Ministry

PERM. Aug 20 (Interfax) - Half of business processes in construction, housing and communal services will be based on artificial intelligence (AI) tools by 2030, Deputy Construction, Housing and Communal Services Minister Konstantin Mikhailik said.

"By 2030, we must base 50% of our business processes in construction and housing and communal services on artificial intelligence tools. This is a colossal figure. Imagine that every second action will involve algorithms of AI models," Mikhailik said at the plenary session of the Cities of the Future forum in Perm.

KPIs for regions and federal bodies for 2026 have already been determined to achieve this indicator, he said. The key condition for the transition will be the introduction of standard digital solutions. It is planned that three basic platforms will be approved - for managing construction and communal infrastructure and the Smart City project. This will make it possible to unify data formats and move away from disparate systems, he said.

Mikhailik named low data quality, outdated technology stacks (often 10-20 years old) and the need for mass retraining of personnel as the main challenges to digitalization today. At the same time, he noted that management decision-making in the industry will change beyond recognition by 2029 due to the embedding of AI at every stage of the construction cycle.
