China increases purchases of pork from Russia almost 30% in 7M 2026 to $60 mln - customs service
MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax) - China purchased pork products from Russia worth $60 million in January-July 2026, up 28.9% from the figure for the same period of 2025 ($48.1 million), according to materials from China's General Administration of Customs.
As a result, Russia maintained fourth place among the main suppliers of pork to China, virtually matching the figure of the United Kingdom, which closes the top three ($60.5 million).
In total, China purchased pork products from 17 countries in January-June. The main suppliers were Spain ($283.3 million) and Brazil ($142.4 million).
At the same time, Russia's export revenue decreased 4.8% year-on-year in July, to $11.8 million from $12.4 million in July 2025. But compared to June this year ($9.2 million), it grew 28.3%.
As reported, Russia exported pork products to China worth $86.5 million in 2025, up 1.6-fold more than the previous year ($53.3 million).
Russian pork first appeared on the Chinese market in April 2024, after China lifted the ban on importing it the autumn of 2023. The right to supply was initially granted to three companies - Miratorg, Tambov Bacon (Rusagro Group) and Velikie Luki Meat Processing Plant. In July 2026, Kursk Meat Processing Plant was included in the list of exporters.
