Belarus's GDP growth accelerates to 2.1% in Jan-July 2026
MINSK. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Belarus's GDP amounted to 180.5 billion Belarusian rubles in January-July 2026, increasing 2.1% in comparable prices year-on-year, the Belarusian National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.
The GDP deflator index for January-July was 113.2%.
As reported, the country's economy grew 1.5% in H1, 0.9% in January-May and 0.2% in January-April after a decline of 0.4% in Q1.
The Belarusian authorities have set a goal of ensuring economic growth of at least 2.8% in 2026. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that the country's GDP will increase 1.2% this year, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development predict growth of 1.1%, the Eurasian Development Bank forecasts 1.5% and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development predicts 1.3%.
Belarus's GDP grew 1.3% in 2025 after an increase of 4% in 2024 and 3.9% in 2023 and a decline of 4.7% in 2022.
The official exchange rate on August 18 is 3.013 Belarusian rubles/$1.
