Inflation in Russia 0.54% in July, annual figure slows to 5.98% - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Consumer price inflation in Russia was 0.54% in July compared with 0.87% in June, 0.17% in May, 0.14% in April, 0.60% in March, 0.73% in February and 1.62% in January 2026, the State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Inflation was a little higher at 0.57% in July 2025 due to the indexation of housing and utility service charges, which will not take place until October 1 this year.

Inflation was 4.75% in January-July. Cumulative inflation was more than for the same period of 2025, when prices rose 4.36%.

Inflation in July 2026 was below the 0.65% that analysts predicted in a consensus forecast for Interfax. Also, weekly inflation figures pointed to 0.62% price growth for the month.

Annual inflation, according to the Rosstat data, slowed to 5.98% in July - the analysts expected 6.10% - from 6.02% at the end of June. Annual inflation was 5.31% at the end of May, 5.58% at the end of April, 5.86% at the end of March, 5.91% at the end of February and 6.00% at the end of January.

Core inflation was 100.44% in July 2026; the annual figure was 105.22%.

Food prices went up 0.29% in July and rose 4.39% in annual terms, with fruit and vegetables falling 2.32% and rising 0.04%, respectively.

Nonfood goods went up 1.26% in July and 6.39% in annual terms.

Service charges averaged up 0.07% in July and 7.76% in annual terms.
