Putin vows to give opening of cable car between Russia, China national level status

ULAN-UDE. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to give the opening of a cross-border cable car between Russia and China a national level status, noting that he plans to discuss with his Chinese partners how to make its launch a joint event.

During Putin's meeting with leading representatives of the urban planning sector in Ulan‑Ude, one of the participants invited the president to the opening of the world's first cross-border cable car between Russia and China. He said that the cable car would be able to carry up to 2.5 million passengers in both directions and would help Chinese tourists travel to the Amur region. The cable car is scheduled to be launched in May 2027.

"To be honest, I don't know what will be there in May next year, but it's a good project, a landmark one. And I will definitely ask my colleagues, and we will certainly mark this [event] at the national level. And we will also talk to our colleagues and friends from China so that this becomes a joint event," Putin said.
