National Bank of Tajikistan holds refi rate at 7%

DUSHANBE. July 30 (Interfax) - - The National Bank of Tajikistan's Monetary Policy Committee decided to hold the refinancing rate at 7% per annum at a meeting on Thursday, the regulator said.

"This decision reflects growth for global fuel prices and the likelihood of this continuing in the near future, volatility for some imported consumer goods, as well as the stability of the national currency against most foreign currencies and inflation within the set target," it said.

The MPC held the rate at 7% at its previous meeting on April 30. The rate was lowered from 7.5% to 7% on January 29.

Annual inflation accelerated to 4.1% in June from 3.4% in March. Consumer prices grew 2.4% in H1 2026, up 0.6 percentage points from the same period in 2025.

The National Bank of Tajikistan is targeting consumer price growth of 5% +/- 2 percentage points.

The MPC holds its next rate-setting meeting on October 29.
