Uzbekistan's GDP grows 8.5%, industrial output 8% in H1 - Statistics Committee

TASHKENT. July 28 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan's GDP grew 8.5% year-on-year in H1 2026 to 1.07 quadrillion sum, the National Statistic Committee said.

Industrial output grew 8% and contributed 2 percentage points to GDP growth. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries grew 4.7%, with their contribution to GDP growth estimated at 0.7 pp.

Construction output rose 13.7%, contributing 1 pp to GDP growth.

The services sector grew 9.2% with trade increasing 13.5%, transportation and warehousing, information and communications 18.6% and other services 4.1%. The services sector contributed 4.4 pp to GDP growth.

Uzbekistan's GDP is expected to grow 8.1% in 2026, according to updated government forecasts. The economy grew 7.7% in 2025.

Industrial output in Uzbekistan totaled 637.2 trillion sum. Manufacturing accounted for 86.3% of it, followed by mineral extraction with 6.7%, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning with 6.5% and water supply, waste water disposal and waste collection and disposal with 0.5%.

Industrial output growth in H1 was driven by increases of 8.8% in manufacturing, 7.9% in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, 2.1% in mineral extraction and 15.9% in water supply, waste water disposal and waste collection and disposal. Increases of 2.7-fold for machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified and 2.4-fold for computers, electronics and optical products affected manufacturing output considerably, while the production of other transport equipment fell, by 6.5%.
